Jaden my dear
The son that should be here
You left before I could see
All the things you got from me.

I wish I could have taken you home
I would have had you all to my own
Taking off my shirt lying you on my chest
There wouldn’t have been a better place to rest.

I never got to bounce you on my knee
Or even see if you truly looked like me
I have to go to church today
To get on my knees to pray.

Please God why did you take my boy
Couldn’t I’ve had just one more day?
One more picture to put away
One more look from my wife telling me it’ll be all OK.

I don’t know why it had to be this way
Lord please let me know someday
I just don’t know what else to say
So I will kneel here to pray
