If you haven't heard yet...John got me 2 baby llamas for my birthday. They are so cute!!!! They are both 5 months old and both boys! I have been having so much fun with them.
They have totally different personalities, but I just love them both so much! Teddy is brown and white. His hair on top is sticking up and crazy like he just woke up. He looks like a muppet and favors his Momma. He is a kisser and is very cuddly and will come up to you and eat from your hand. You can brush him and he is very gentle. He is definately the sweetest of the two! He has never kicked or spit.
Boo Boo is sort of the boss, or at least he thinks he is. He makes me laugh so hard. He is solid light brown and looks like his Daddy. He herds the goats and Teddy (the other llama) all around the barn. If anyone gets out of line he will tip his head back and warn everyone that he just might spit if you don't knock it off! I have only seen him spit a couple of times and both times it was at Teddy. Boo Boo will come to you sometimes and kiss you sometimes and eat from your hand when he wants too. He acts like he is just way to busy doing his "guarding" job than to bother with you, but when he's in a fun mood he is very loving too. You can tell he is still young, because while he is doing his "guarding" if he notices everyone else running he will start running and forget he was on guard. I read about that in the llama books. When he gets older he wont panic and run too. Instead he will stay his ground. It's so funny though he will get this Oh my gosh look and start running in place like Fred Flintstone... then kind of stop and look around like wait a minute...what are running for?
I have been trying so hard to find a "treat" that they like so I can train them, because they are really smart. But, so fay they don't like anything but grass, hay & their feed. I even tried ice cream & candy but they just turn their noses up.
I'm really wanting to train them, after seeing so many tricks on the web...so it seems like daily I'm am trying out new foods with them. Maybe I will get lucky eventually. Napoleon Dynamite fed his llama lasagna, so maybe I should try that? LOL! Actually, today I am trying rabbit treats, I saw it on a website so wish me luck!
I will try and take some video of the llamas to put on the website this weekend.
Have a great weekend!
C'mon admit it...we all have them... clothes of all sizes...you have the 'man, my butt is looking good today' jeans, the 'there's no way I can hold my stomach in all day jeans' and the 'one of these days I'm going to get back into those jeans-jeans' and "old faithful"... the sweat pants....the comfy ones we put on when we get home so we can let it all hang out and watch Dancing With the Stars!
We are getting pictures taken today at work...oh....didn't you dread that day at school? My Mom would always want me to wear a certain outfit...and of course I would want to wear something else.
It didn't really matter, because in my pictures my hair would be sticking out ...or one eye would be amost shut...but not enough for retakes-lol.
I have been looking in the mirror lately thinking I'd like to lose some weight....not a ton of weight, I just want to be able to get into some of the clothes I wore say...back in high school. am I dreaming?
Remember the days when we didn't have to worry about jiggle butts or muffin tops? I look at those girls now and think...Oh, your day is coming:)
The thing that really drives me crazy is that extra meat that hangs under your arms. I used to love cuddling up to my Granny's arms. They were soft and you could just sort of sink into them when you curled up in her lap. Yes, I loved it, but I don't want to have that ...not yet!
I used to love to work out when I was in school & college...but now it's the last thing on my mind. I'm so busy with work and the kids. Just the thought of running down the street (unless someone's chasing me) sounds boring. Why would I want to get all sweaty if I just took a shower & got all fixed up earlier? I know, I know, it sounds so lazy, but I would rather curl up on the couch and do a crossword puzzle.
I was one of those skinny girls in school...the ones that never had to hold in their tummy and ate anything they wanted. Well, I'm here to tell you, there will come a day...after you have kids, when you wake up and look look at a picture someone has taken of you and you are like "Who's lard butt is that?" and then you realize it's yours!!!! It happens to us all. Then you start comparing your body to your friends. What a cruel joke life has played on us! Well, I know I won't be giving up nachos or Nutty Buddies anytime soon so I'm trying something.
It's called Healthe Trim. So far nothing has happened, but it's only been a week. The hardest part for me has been drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day. I mean really....who drinks THAT much water? I have to carry a water bottle everywhere I go, just so I will remind myself to drink it.
The company that makes this says you don't need caffine, but I still get my cup of coffee in and a glass of sweet tea later in the day. I don't know if this stuff is going to work for me but I will let you know:) It doesn't say I HAVE to work out anywhere or EAT RIGHT. So, it's worth a try right?
This stuff has been on Oprah, Tyra and 60 minutes...so it oughta work! I will let you know right after I finish this bag of oreos-haha JUST KIDDING! I will let you know if it helps me :)
Wow...I'm sitting here right now... I just found out Uncle Zeb died. Remember Uncle Zeb? The cartoon show...his cartoon camp? I loved him!!! His black cowboy hat and yellow bandana scarf. Those litte glasses.
I will never forget being on his show. He had a little area on the set where the kids would sit (sorta like bleachers). We would watch him play games with the kids (usually the birthday kid that day) and they would win goofy prizes like a wooden spoon or something a kid would never want and the kid would make a face (like are you kidding me?) and then they'd zoom in on Uncle Zeb and he'd make a goofy face. They showed cartoons like Popeye, Little Audry and all those old black and white cartoons. I remember a buzzard mom with her baby birds...and one of them singing "I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee". There are so many old cartoons I would love to show my kids.
Close to the end of the show each kid got to walk over a bridge where Uncle Zeb had a microphone and he asked you your name and who you wanted to say hello to. The time I was on the show I had practiced all week who I was going to say hello to....I had a list of people in my head. Then at the moment, when I was there, eye to eye with Uncle Zeb, I became star-stuck. I opened my mouth but nothing came out. It seemed like 30 minutes had passed by. Then Uncle Zeb takes off his black cowboy hat and puts it on my head...again I have this blank stare on my face and my jaw just hanging there. There is silence that seemed like forever again. He smiles and says something clever and kind of shoos me to get to my brother, who is 3 yrs younger than me, that says his entire name and hello to everyone in our family...even Grandma's and Grandpa's! I look back and laugh now, but at the time it was serious business to me. LOL
The best part of the show...was at the very end when everyone gets to run back on the set and jump up and down while they play this song that starts and stops and starts and stops. The cameraman would zoom in on kids and zoom out real fast. It was the best show where you could just act like a bunch of monkeys jumping around.
I saw Uncle Zeb a few years ago somewhere...he wasn't wearing his Uncle Zeb outfit but I looked at him and I knew it was him. I smiled really big and he smiled back and I said Hi Uncle Zeb! He chuckled and waved.
I'm sure going to miss you Uncle Zeb. I'll be lookin' for ya!
Wow! Can't believe it's August already! The kids will be in school before we know it!
Hope you are having a nice summer.
I still have to wear this sling on my arm...one more week. It's driving me crazy!!!! Don't know if you heard but I fell standing on the bathtub reaching for some fancy-smancy conditioner and biffed it! I ended up breaking something I had never heard of ...a "bursa". It's like a gel pack on the end of our elbows...don't know if I will get it back or not. It hurts though...so protect yours:) Actually, the doctor said it did it's job by keeping me from breaking my elbow. So, I got that going for me. I hope I grow a new one...I'll probably need it...as clumsy as I am:)
This weekend my birthday llamas arrived! The Armstrong family e-mailed me one day after I was talking about wanting llamas and they had 2 boys! A multi-colored one and a solid brown one. They are five months old and soooooo cute.
We went to their house to see them and just fell in love with the boys! They were giving us nose kisses on our cheeks and I knew right then they were perfect!
We have named them Teddy and Boo Boo, becuase they both look like little fuzzy bears.
They seemed a little shy at 1st this weekend in their new digs...but happy. The horses and goats were all around them checking them out...farm animals are so social-lol
Boo Boo has taken-a -liking to one of the the neighbor's horses that keeps visiting....in fact he was trying to nurse from him....but he figured out pretty quick he was barking up the wrong tree. The horse is still coming over to say hello. It's funny how all the other animals are just crazy about them!
They are eating grain pretty well..I tried to give them a lick off a grape popsicle yesterday, but they haven't figured out "treats" yet:)
We are taking them for a walk tonight...they have new little halters and seem to like them. Did you know they have soft padded feet and little toe nails? I had no idea! I'm learning all kinds of new stuff. It's funny Jim (Carey) asked me why I wanted llamas and goats. They are just so sweet. It's hard to explain, but i just love feeding them and learning about them.
I put a slide-show on the website if you want to see them on the cash and carey page. I also have photos of them on facebook (I'm under Kelley Cash). I'm also doing the twitter thing (under Kelley Cash) if you are on it look for me:)
Well, it's nap time...I love nap time..everybody should take naps:) lol . Naps and cookie & kool-aid breaks...people would be a lot more smiley if they did that everyday!!!
Have a great week and I'll keep you posted on the Lazy "B" Ranch and all the critters!
